Patricia,

Sounds like yummy workout time! Yoga - well, actually dance - is where I started, too. The first thing I ever taught and I still do so.

Today I thought of you as I used the Designer Sculpting audio only as I designed my own progression - it's a great option!

Glad you're on the Teleseminar! Signups are flying in. Pop in when you can.

I definitely stretch. It feels so good after the burn! I'm a big fan of stretching. I do about 40 minutes of yoga before The Bar Method. Yoga is my first love. I don't use any music. I might try that. I've signed up for your TeleSeminar with Burr. I babysit my grandkids after work, tho, so I might be late getting started. I hope that's ok.

@Patricia: Patricia, it sounds like you have morphed the process to duplicate a studio workout. Nice work!

Are you working to silence or do you play music to accompany? Are you being sure to include all the stretches as well? I'm going to play with your ideas and see what I can come up with! Hope you will be coming to the TeleSeminar with Burr on the 8th?

Thanks so much for the post,
Lani

@Susan Livengood: Susan, I've been just working through the lifts w/100 pretzels each side and stretch between and it times out just perfect. I guess I could do the pause but didn't want to add length to the workout - good suggestion though! Hope you can make it to the call with Burr Sept. 8!

Lani,
It's interesting to read how you tweak the Bar Method (100 pretzels!). I have been doing the DVD's since Dec 08 and in April I decided to tweak too. I had memorized both DVDs and wanted a more intense workout so I just combined them! I do both the arm and shoulder exercises from both DVDs; I also do 40-50 pushups and 40 triceps exercises; instead of just 3 leg exercises, I do all 6. Then I do all 4 seat exercises (I do the standing seat on my toes) and both sets of leg lifts plus the plies. I only do the one ab exercise from the Accelerated
DVD since I don't have a problem with abs. Then I do the back dancing using all 4 feet positions. My butt really burns from those. By the time I'm done, I am drenched in sweat and tingling from head to toe. It only takes about an hour since I move quickly. I workout 5 days a week and the results have been great!

Hi Lani,

WOW! 100 pretzels, you go girl, thats great, I'm doing good to finish 50! Question: do you pause the DVD during the leg lifts segment to do the pretzels, then add leg lifts after? Or to my understanding do the pretzels take the place of that segment? Either way, sounds like a great idea. I can get an extra bang for my buck. I still might do the treadmill hop also, I feel the inches were coming off faster that way, I stopped doing that for a month, just did the DVD's, 3/4 of an inch came back on my lower ab area, I wish the inches came OFF that fast! ;)

Thank you Lani for the great info and inspiration.

Susan,

I'm so glad that my replies connected with you and I look forward to seeing what shifts emerge for you.

Funny, during the leg lifts to front that you are talking about, I pop in a good 100 pretzels on each side! I LOVE pretzel (note I asked Burr for a private lesson which I posted here in video!) and really like to do them each workout if I can. I told Burr about this "pinch hit" in my workouts - pretzel for leg lifts - and she thought is was great. Customize! The purpose of the leg lifts, Burr said, in one part (besides leg shaping and strength through abdominals) is a little extra cardio, so you weren't far off the mark with your treadmill hop!

Oh, and for the record, I'm pretty much a red wine most days. So we're on the same team there! ;-).

Thanks again for the great questions Susan!

Hi Lani!

Thanks so much, that explained a lot for me. I definitely need to tweak my eating habits, obviously they are not working for me anymore. And yes, during the Standing seat segment, the leg lifts(Accelerated Workout) I started jumping on the treadmill, I elevate it and go at a very fast pace, during those segments because I felt like I was getting more of a workout, then I jump back to the DVD at the 15 push-ups segment then finish the DVD. I just started doing this because I wasn't seeing results, but gaining in that problem area according to my jeans.

Everything you explained makes sense, you also came up with a good idea of taking a picture of myself. I'll stick with the DVD's, I have both, I like to alternate the two. And do a revamp on my eating habits, I do like a dry red wine every night, I sure hope I don't have to stop that!:) I will keep you updated.

Thank you Lani!
