Do Celebrities Have "Better Information" When It Comes To Fitness? Or Is It Fitness BS?

2

Pardon my French, but this kind of stuff really fries me bucket.  Because it hurts YOU, and it is so unnecessary.

Do celebrities really have "better information" when it comes to fitness?  Or is that just fitness marketing bs?

As you can imagine, I get ALL kinds of fitness related emails.

From the pros.

The tried and trusted, educated sources.

The bogus wanna be's.

And all points in between.

And of course, amidst all of it, lots of hype, hype, hype.

Don't get me started.  I'll try to stick to the specific example here.

The Fitness BS e-mail I Got Today

What's got my goat today is a prominent message  (restated: emotional hook) in an email I just received from a "trainer to celebrities" fitness expert.

This person has a long list of credentials, and is no doubt quite qualified in a number of areas of health and well-being.

But the hype here stopped me short.  Can you hear it?  Listen:

"Celebrities are not more beautiful than you or I.  It's just that they have access to far better information."

Do you hear what this is saying? The implication is that "you darn better get this 'better' information (and only I have it!) or you'll never win at fitness, fat loss, weight loss, and all of your other weight goals will be impossible to meet.

I Beg To Differ

B.S. "Better information"?  Excellent information about health, fitness, weight loss, and well-being is all over the place.  There is no special "Academy of Health Information Only Accessible By The Rich And Famous" that we darn better drum up the money to access or just drown in a big pool of "loser".

Secrets to success aren't really "secrets" in the classic sense of being hidden, but rather important keys for unlocking potential.  Hiring a coach to help me move forward is simply smart action, but don't hook my fear of failure by parading elitist language.

So Just What IS The "Celebrity Advantage"???

What is the "celebrity" fitness advantage?   And how can you get it?

It's not "better information".  We're just led to believe that by "celebrity trainers".

Rather, celebrities have, when it comes to weight loss, fitness, and beauty:

  1. A compelling reason to stay fit.  Their livelihood – more often than not – depends on it.
  2. Trainers, nutritionists, and sometimes even shoppers and cooks.  Granted, they invest heavily in this.  All because of #1.

Fitness Fool's Gold? Find the True Gems Among The False Leads

There are always some gems to harvest among the fool's gold and let me show you where you'll find it here.

A compelling reason for success is your #1 fitness success tool.

Once armed with that, find a coach who you trust in whom you can invest that will help you move your goals forward and coach you on the tools to get you there.

I believe in coaching big time, always work with one or more myself, whether in fitness or business.   Every dollar well spent because it moves my dreams, vision, and goals forward.

But it is the coaching and support and application expertise that are the real gems.  This "celebrity trainer" could have sold their program well on this alone.  It was the underhanded "better information" that hits below the belt.

Find YOUR compelling reason for health, fitness, or weight loss. Let it inspire, motivate, and give meaning to your mission.  And tell about it in comments below.

Amen to that! I hate it when I get emails like that too.

My compelling reason? Weight is important of course but what I guess I really want is the energy that comes with feeling healthy and in shape.

Great post!

Janet
